Regardless of who's best for the job, I can safely say that anyone calling for a "businessman in charge" is basically calling for a strongman to "make the trains run on time".

Wittgenstein might want to discuss the meaning of the term “raffle” and how we know that your understanding of “raffle” is the same as mine - and perhaps also in what sense a chair could hold a raffle ticket.

It's very difficult to pin it down and I have fantasy that leaders such as Mike King and Willie Apiata would step forward and try to help mend society. Their politics wouldn't matter a great deal to me - although I lean to the right - all that would count is their support for a stable family/whanau unit. It seems to me that those who advocate for families are marginalised and the suffering that results is borne by the young. Willie Jackson or Kieran McAnulty? Couldn't care less if they encouraged stability not misery.

Great thoughts, thanks Mike. It's sobering to think about the long term effects of the individualism that took over the mid-80s, especially on the family/whanau. It is now a marginalised concern, compared with earlier times.
