On the 91% who aren’t swayed by polls, I suggest your readers are people who read and are swayed by analyses and/or have strong existing political loyalties. It’s frightening to think there may be people who just want to follow a poll trend in voting rather than thinking for themselves. Though I guess we all think within the constraints of public discourse and our historical context …
That's true, Kai. We're all influenced by something and by someone, e.g., parents, but I imagine readers of this newsletter have firm political ideas. Judging by the earlier poll, they may be more left-leaning on the whole.
While its not a great look its probably reflective of the slightly discombobulated state of society, I'm more concerned about the money/influence flowing in at the party donation level than a few MP's being idiots
The questionnaire on behaviour is misleading-I do not recall any Labour or Green Politicians behaving in the utterly despicable manner certain National MP's have-and have been encouraged to by the acquiescence of their Leader and Deputy.
I recall the shambles of Langes Labour and the naked greed and lying of National in the 90's, both of which led to MMP.
I expect our Nation to be dragged down ,reputationally, if we elect a band of free booting fools such as those we are presented with on the Right-ACT won't work with NZ First and vice versa and Luxon is a very weak man-he certainly won't run a coherent Govt at all.
So, your original quiz is faulty in that it doesn't allow for subtlety .

A very good point, Mr Anderson. I could well do a piece on party donations at some stage, and then seek views on what should be done about it.
